Russian Kulich
Almonds, candied fruits, and citrus peel are some of the essential ingredients for this Easter bread, which is similar to a German Christmas favorite, stollen. To transform this recipe into a stollen-like bread, add 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom with the flour and use the Glaze recipe instead of the Almond Icing.

Directions
Add all ingredients except icing to bread machine pan in the order suggested by manufacturer, adding fruits and peels and almonds with flour. Drizzle cooled bread with Almond Icing. Note: Use the 1-pound recipe if your machine pan holds 10 cups or less of water. In large capacity machines with glass domes, make only 1-pound loaf size to ensure complete baking. Almond Icing: Stir together 1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar, 1/4 teaspoon DURKEE Almond Extract, and enough milk (2 to 3 teaspoons) to make icing of drizzling consistency. Recommended cycle: Basic/white bread cycle; light or medium/normal color setting.
